Currently, Meijer is looking for a Deli Team Leader. The individual selected for this position will be responsible for planning, directing and supervising team members in the day to day operations of the Deli area. Managing Deli department operations, suggests changes to inventory, pricing and purchases when needed. Ensuring appropriate service levels at the Deli counter to provide minimal wait time for customers. Responsible for the department staff training, assignments and scheduling.
Key responsibilities include:
Supervising and directing Deli team members
Ensuring the Deli Team is properly hired, staffed and thoroughly trained in all aspects of their jobs and have completed all required training
Promoting succession planning by providing career paths and identifying development needs for the Deli team members
Modeling exceptional, fast and friendly customer service
Communicating the Meijer Friendly Initiative in all team meetings and conversations
Responsibility for all aspects of the profit and loss statement for the Deli Department
Reviewing sales goals, supply costs, stockloss/shrink results and goals
Reviewing Customer Survey and customer feedback from previous day or week
Providing consistent and great quality products and services
Ensuring Deli staff is trained on the various product offerings, push items, and product specifications to excel in satisfying the customer
Reliable and consistent attendance required
Managing and supervising team to:
o Ensure fresh and appealing displays and products by checking codes, rotating products, and removing out of date products
o Ensure shrink goals are met
o Maintain correct Deli signage and pricing
o Ensure the Deli counter displays are properly stocked
o Maintain back stock in good order
o Ensure team members comply with all applicable health and sanitization procedures
Promoting a safe work environment
Operating and sanitizing all Deli equipment in a safe and proper manner
Answer department telephone calls and pages quickly with excellent telephone etiquette
Working closely with the Bakery and Produce Departments to ensure customer satisfaction
Collaborating with Retail Specialist to ensure that Deli programs exceed customer expectations
Other daily tasks as required
High school diploma or its equivalent required
Minimum 2-3 years of related retail experience
Minimum 1 year of management experience
Demonstrated ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measures, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
Demonstrated ability to prioritize time and manage the time for others
Demonstrated ability to visually examine products for quality and freshness
Demonstrated ability to answer customer questions in a clear and service oriented manner
Demonstrated ability to conduct suggestive selling
Demonstrated ability to work safely
